Rector Magnificus Carel Stolker is a man of heritage, as he demonstrated on countless occasions during his rectorship. Time and again, Stolker turned up at one of Leiden’s museums and supported many heritage initiatives. As the longest-serving Rector (2013-2021) in the history of Leiden University, he has also made his mark. Ten Leiden museums and heritage partners have chosen objects from their collection that symbolise Stolker and the research in Leiden. With direct references, playful associations and the odd nod and wink. From the Ginkgo to the ‘Thunder Church’. Welcome to Carel’s Universe.
